Three Chapters Show and Kvell

The Show N Qvell pictured on this and the next few pages was held in the summer of 2004 and included members of the Masorot, Delaware Valley, and Stitchers-by-the River chapters.

Liliya and sampler Liliya Moldavskay, a new member from the Ukraine, presented her Judaic needlework to the guilds. Liliya was born in Kiev, Ukraine. She attended a secondary school for pedagogy and, upon graduation, began a career in teaching. She studied independently with master teachers over the next 20 years. In 1994, just before immigrating to the US, Liliya received a certificate from the Union of Ukrainian Art. Her recent exploration of Jewish themes is expressed through the exquisite stitchery of her hallah and matzah covers. She uses satin stitches, outline stitches, and French knots.

In the above photos, Liliya shows her pulled thread sampler.

Below, Liliya shows one of her challah covers (left). At the right is pictured Liliya's challah cover embroidery with "Shabbat Shalom" in Hebrew. She will teach at our National Convention on June 26th & 27th.
