It is with grief that I must report the sudden, unexpected death of Aviva
Silberman, president of our North Shore (Chicago area, Illinois) Pomegranate Chapter.
She died on Saturday, February 9, at about 11 a.m.
Aviva was a highly skilled and imaginative needlecrafter, and a patient
teacher of those of us who were stumbling, but earnest. She was looking
forward to the Pomegranaters completing a needlework ensemble to be hung at
our synagogue, North Suburban Synagogue Beth El.
She lived Jewishly, and was an example to all who knew this special person.
Aviva had a generosity and sweet temperament that few will match.
How painful is such an unexpected passing, without having thanked the person
quite enough. "Like the dew on the mountain, Like the foam on the river,
Like the bubble on the fountain, She is gone and forever."
Note: In addition to being president of the Chicago Chapter, Aviva Silberman was an active member of the National Board. She was chairman of the Grants Committee and, according to national President Fradele Feld, "was a great help in researching and
revising the by-laws...She will be missed by all
of us."
